Sweet Addiction Books in Order

Sweet Addiction is a smaller series, but it packs a lot of relationship drama into a tight circle of friends. These books sit in J Daniels's contemporary romance world rather than her beach-town one, and they read a little glossier, a little more nightlife-driven, and very focused on chemistry. Start with Sweet Addiction.

That first novel kicks off with a wedding hookup between Dylan Sparks and Reese Carroll. Dylan expects one night and nothing more. Reese does not agree. Their story is playful, pushy, emotional, and built around one of Daniels's favorite questions: what happens when one person insists the connection is casual and the other absolutely knows it is not?

The hookup is only the beginning.

Sweet Possession stays with Dylan and Reese as they head toward marriage and discover that love does not magically get easier once the choice has been made. Family stress, outside pressure, and the chaos of wedding plans keep the tension alive. That means the first two books really work as one extended arc, not just two separate romances with the same names on the cover.

Sweet Obsession opens the lens a bit by shifting to Brooke Wicks and Mason King. Brooke wants fun without commitment. Mason wants the whole thing, body, heart, future, all of it. This book is also where the Sweet Addiction books cross over with Alabama Summer, because Mason first appears in All I Want before moving to Chicago and joining this friend group.

That crossover tells you a lot about the series. Even when the cast changes, Daniels likes to write romance as a connected world, with friends commenting, meddling, celebrating, and sometimes making a mess. The tone here is sexy and fast moving, but there is also a steady interest in what commitment feels like after the adrenaline wears off. Her characters are very good at desire. They are less confident about trust.

If Alabama Summer is the porch-and-lake side of J Daniels, Sweet Addiction is the wedding, apartment, and after-hours side. The series is still funny and emotional, but it is especially good if you like stories where a supposedly casual arrangement falls apart almost immediately, and everybody has to admit that the stakes are much higher than planned.
