Author bio
Sudeep Nagarkar was born in Mumbai in 1988 and grew up in a close-knit Marathi Brahmin family. He went to school in Thane, then studied electronics engineering and later completed an MBA in business management in Mumbai.
By day he worked in the IT industry, but at night he kept a diary full of college memories, crushes and quiet frustrations. A friend who read those pages pushed him to turn them into a novel.
In July 2011 he published his debut, Few Things Left Unsaid, a campus love story drawn straight from that diary. A year later came That's The Way We Met, and after its release he quit his corporate job to write full time, despite strong resistance at home.
Since then he has written a steady run of novels that follow young people through first love, friendship and heartbreak in modern Indian cities. Books like It Started With a Friend Request and You Are Trending In My Dreams capture the feel of clubs, shared flats and late-night chats without pretending that everything always ends neatly.
Many of his stories lean as hard on friendship as they do on romance. You are the Password to my Life grew out of his cousin's experiences and traces how a deep bond between two very different friends is shaken by tragedy and hard choices.
With All Rights Reserved for You he wrote a fictionalized version of his own long-distance relationship with Jasmine, who would later become his wife. It follows a writer and a non-reader trying to stay together across cities with only calls, chats and flights to bridge the gap.
Over time his plots have pushed into darker or more complicated spaces. Our Story Needs No Filter threads a romance through student elections and campus unrest, while novels such as The Secrets We Keep and Stand By Me! mix emotional stakes with crime and suspense.
Nagarkar's books have sold widely across India and have been translated into several languages, including Hindi, Marathi and Telugu. He received a Youth Achievers Award in 2013 and has appeared on Forbes India's longlist of influential celebrities for multiple years.
Outside publishing he has written scripts for Marathi television and helped develop concepts for national channels. He is also a regular guest speaker at colleges and conferences, where he talks about writing, failure and the strange way small personal stories can find a huge audience.
Today he lives in Mumbai with Jasmine and their family, still writing about ordinary people who are trying to balance love, loyalty and ambition. His novels are easy to slip into, often built from a single what-if pulled from real life and stretched into a story that feels familiar but still personal.
