That is especially true in a place where old mistakes, like a DUI or a failed fling, can stick to a person for years.

The tone is warm, sexy, and easy to read, but Beck still gives each character a real problem to work through. One couple is navigating divided loyalties, another is tangled up in conflicting ideas of love and commitment, and another has to deal with public exposure and private embarrassment. The stories move quickly, but they are not weightless.
