Kelsey Browning’s books in this branch, Tasting Fire and Striking Edge, show two very different sides of the series. And the Kingstons, like the Steeles, carry their own histories, habits, and blind spots into every scene. Browning gets a lot of mileage out of that mix: competent adults under pressure, old feelings that refuse to stay buried, and a community that can be both support system and complication.

If you like romantic suspense with more action than cozy mystery, but still want the comfort of a recurring small-town world, this series is a good fit. Start with Tasting Fire if you want a hometown reunion story. Pick up Striking Edge when you want a wilder setup with celebrity pressure, mountain danger, and a hero who would rather trust a dog than a camera crew.
