Star Wars: The High Republic (Tessa Gratton) Books in Order

Tessa Gratton's High Republic books do not stay in one lane. She has written across middle grade, young adult, adult, and anthology formats, which means her corner of the era can feel different from book to book. Her entry point was Phase II, the prequel section of the larger High Republic project set about 150 years before Phase I. Quest for Planet X widens the lens again. It is faster, younger, and more openly adventurous, built around Outer Rim prospectors, young Jedi, pilots, and the frontier project of linking distant worlds with communication buoys. You still get mystery, but now it comes with more exploration and more of the bright, hopeful side of the era.

Then Phase III turns the mood. Defy the Storm, again with Ireland, happens after the fall of Starlight Beacon, when the Nihil have trapped part of Republic space behind the Stormwall. Vernestra Rwoh and Avon Starros push into the Occlusion Zone to rescue Imri Cantaros, and the whole book carries that mix of grief, determination, and pressure that defines late High Republic stories.

By the time Gratton writes Temptation of the Force, she is working at the adult-novel scale. Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann are back in close orbit, Marchion Ro is still loose, and the Nameless remain one of the era's ugliest threats. The result is bigger in scope, but it keeps the same attention to bonds between people and to the things the Jedi fear admitting, even to themselves.

There is also her contribution to Tales of Light and Life, the anthology that helps bridge phases and expand the emotional map of the era.
