Series background & context
This is really one series with two closely related halves. It began as Spirit Chasers, with paranormal investigators and gifted psychics dealing with haunted houses around the Detroit suburbs. Later, the world widened into Haunted Ever After, with New Orleans ghost tours, cursed objects, and even more romantic trouble. The through line is simple: people who can handle spirits just fine often have a much harder time handling love.
The earlier books lean into classic haunted-house energy. To Catch a Spirit / Love at First Haunt introduces Allison Gray, a medium who can see the dead but is terrified of them, which is exactly the sort of problem this series enjoys. To Stop a Shadow / Second Chance Spirit turns a haunted Victorian into the setup for a reunion romance. To Free a Phantom / Third Time's a Ghost keeps the focus on psychic gifts, dangerous hauntings, and feelings that refuse to stay buried.
These are ghost stories, but they are also relationship stories.
The later books shift south and get wrapped in New Orleans atmosphere. Love and Ghosts, Love & Omens, and Love and Curses revolve around a ghost-tour world in and around the French Quarter, where haunted history is not just local flavor, it is part of the job. Mediums, seers, and other gifted people are still at the center of things, but the setting adds a richer sense of old houses, old legends, and old trouble that never quite stays in the past.
What links all six books is the way the supernatural problem and the romance problem keep stepping on each other. A ghost will not rest. A cursed object shows up. Somebody has a secret gift they are trying very hard not to talk about. Then love arrives at the worst possible moment and makes everything messier. That rhythm is a big part of the fun.
The ghosts are often the easiest part.
If you like paranormal romance with a real haunting attached, this series is a good fit. The tone is steamy but not joyless, spooky without turning into full horror, and built around characters who have to trust each other before they can survive what is stalking them. It works best in order if you want the recurring cast and the widening world, but each book still gives you its own couple, mystery, and haunted mess to unravel.
