Series background & context

Spine Ridge University is Clarissa Wild's secret-society college world, and it is one of her biggest current dark romance projects. The first wave includes Sick Boys, Evil Boys, and Vile Boys. Those books are followed by the legacy branch, which moves into the next generation with titles like Boys Who Hunt, Boys Who Taint, and Boys Who Crave.

The setting does a lot of work here. Spine Ridge is not just a campus backdrop. It is the engine for the whole mood, elite, closed off, and full of rival houses and dangerous boys who think power belongs to them. Skull and Serpent, Phantom, and Tartarus are not casual clubs. They are the kind of groups that can shape reputations, bury secrets, and ruin lives.

That makes the romances feel bigger than one couple.

Each main book centers a different heroine and a different trio of men, usually with revenge, blackmail, or survival pushing the plot forward. In Sick Boys, grief and vengeance drive the heroine onto campus. In Evil Boys, a masked vigilante collides with three boys who can expose her. In Vile Boys, a witness to murder gets pulled into the orbit of three self-made gods. The legacy books keep the same dark energy while building on family ties from the earlier stories.

This is very much a why choose world, and it leans hard into obsession, corruption, and twisted loyalty. The books can be read as standalones, but they are richer in order because the families, societies, and grudges keep echoing from one story to the next.

If you want Clarissa Wild at her most dramatic, filthy, and campus-gothic, this is the series to try. Start with Sick Boys and go forward from there.
