Series background & context

Sons of Sigurd is a shared Viking romance series about warriors and the women whose lives become tangled with theirs. Terri Brisbin's contribution, Tempted by Her Viking Enemy, is set against danger, family pressure, and the problem of trusting a man who begins as a prisoner.

Katla needs to escape a violent marriage plan. Her most unlikely source of help is Brandt Sigurdsson, a Viking held in her father's dungeon. Brandt has every reason to resent the people who imprisoned him, and Katla knows that freeing him could make an already dangerous situation worse. Still, they need each other.

An enemy can become an ally.

The story uses that reversal to build its romance. Katla is not looking for adventure or a new love. She is trying to claim some control over her own future. Brandt is strong and honorable, but he is still a stranger from the side she has been taught to fear. Their journey forces both of them to test the stories they have heard about enemies, duty, and what a safe life might look like.

The Viking setting brings a different texture from Brisbin's Highland books. Travel is dangerous, family authority is immediate, and a woman's marriage can be treated as a tool in someone else's plans. Yet the emotional core will feel familiar to her readers: two people enter an unequal arrangement, each carries a secret or a reason to hold back, and trust becomes the real challenge.

As a Sons of Sigurd novel, Tempted by Her Viking Enemy connects to stories by other authors about the Sigurd family. The shared series gives readers a larger Viking world, while Brisbin's book remains centered on Katla and Brandt's particular escape. You do not need prior knowledge of the other books to understand their story.

Freedom is worth a dangerous bargain.

Start with Tempted by Her Viking Enemy if you want Brisbin's Viking romance, especially if you enjoy forced proximity, a prison escape, and a couple moving from suspicion toward partnership. Readers who want more of the family backdrop can continue with the other Sons of Sigurd books afterward.
