Some Girls Like It Cold is Stephanie Queen's hockey rom-com spin-off from the Boston Brawlers world. These stories keep the ice, the athletes, and the familiar sports setting, but bring the focus closer to awkward crushes, bad plans, one-night mistakes, and second chances that arrive when nobody is looking for them.

The first book, The Puck Bunny, plays with the idea behind its title while treating the heroine as more than a fan chasing a fantasy. An awkward woman with a long-standing crush takes a chance, and the hockey player she wants turns out to need something more genuine than the attention that comes with the sport. It is a light, funny setup with real feelings underneath it.

That does not go especially well in The Groupie, where a one-night stand turns into a much messier arrangement. The story pairs a hockey player with an Olympic snowboarder, two public figures who are used to attention but not necessarily to being understood. Their attraction is immediate, but both have reasons to keep the relationship from becoming more than a temporary escape.

The Do-Over Girl turns toward a childhood-sweethearts, second-chance story. Kali and Nash have history, regret, and the difficult task of deciding whether going back can ever mean moving forward. It is the most openly nostalgic premise of the group, but it still keeps the series' quick dialogue and willingness to let characters make embarrassing choices before they get to the honest ones.

The series is connected to the Boston Brawlers Hockey books, so readers may recognize the larger hockey world and some of the people around it. Still, the emphasis here is less on a team-wide arc and more on standalone couples whose lives intersect with the game. The heroes may be hockey players, but the women have careers, injuries, family concerns, and goals that do not disappear because a handsome athlete has shown up.

Expect a warm, steamy tone with plenty of comic discomfort. The stories use recognizable romance setups, including crushes, hookups that go sideways, and old feelings that never quite went away. They also make room for vulnerability, especially when a character's image does not match what they actually want from a relationship.
