Series background & context
The Society series is a two-book paranormal thriller about psychics, covert experiments, and a resistance movement fighting an organization called Sigma. Sigma treats gifted people as assets to be captured, conditioned, and used. The Society tries to find those same people first, offer them protection, and keep their abilities out of government hands. That conflict makes trust almost impossible, especially for anyone who has already survived Sigma's training.
The danger is both physical and psychological.
In The Society, Rowan Price discovers that her unusual sensitivity is far more powerful than she understood. Justin Delgado, a hunter and survivor of Sigma's program, is assigned to approach her and bring her into the Society's network. He knows how quickly Sigma can turn a person into a weapon because it was done to him. Rowan has good reason to question his motives, yet remaining alone may leave her defenseless against an enemy that already knows her value.
Their relationship develops alongside the larger chase. Justin's instincts tell him to protect Rowan, but his history has left scars, triggers, and habits built for survival. Rowan is a healer as well as a formidable psion, so she is not merely someone to hide. Her power could help the resistance recover, but it could also become catastrophic if Sigma takes control of it. The romance grows from a partnership in which both people must decide what consent, safety, and loyalty mean after manipulation.
Hunter, Healer raises the cost. Sigma has struck hard at the Society and captured Justin, leaving Rowan to help rebuild the damaged network while searching for him. Rescue is only the first problem. Justin's memory and sense of self have been attacked, and the couple must face what Sigma has done without assuming love will instantly fix it. The conflict moves from escape toward recovery, retaliation, and the survival of the organization itself.
These books are darker than a simple psychic adventure. They include captivity, trauma, secret facilities, and people struggling to reclaim control over their own minds. At the same time, the story pays close attention to practical resistance: safe houses, teams, intelligence, healing, and the hard work of choosing allies. Action and romance support the same question, whether people shaped by coercion can build something based on trust.
Read The Society before Hunter, Healer. The second book continues Rowan and Justin's relationship and the war with Sigma directly, so publication order matters. Expect fast suspense, psychic abilities with real consequences, and two damaged but capable people trying to protect each other without surrendering their independence.
