Snow Wilson is the daughter of a cocaine king, but she wants a future beyond the streets. College in Tallahassee feels like freedom until she’s dragged back into the game and has to fight for her family and herself.
Series background & context
The Snow series follows Snow Wilson, the oldest daughter of Azu Wilson, a man whose cocaine business helped shape the world she grew up in. He names her Snow because she’s born in Gary, Indiana, during the early days of his “snowfall” on the streets. From the start, her life is tied to an empire that brings money and protection, but also paranoia and violence.
Snow is loved hard by her family, but love in this world comes with expectations. She’s supposed to be loyal, careful, and grateful. She’s also supposed to understand the rules without anybody having to explain them.
Snow is smart, stubborn, and tired of being managed.
When she graduates high school, she runs toward a different future. She heads to an HBCU in Tallahassee with close friends like Tristan and Bae, and for a minute it feels like she might get to be a regular teenager, focused on classes, parties, and plans.
Then the streets pull her back in.
Once Snow is snatched off campus and forced into the drug game, the series becomes a juggling act between survival and responsibility. She’s trying to keep her head above water while taking care of her younger brothers, Killion and Prince, and looking out for Bae when trouble lands her best friend behind bars. The pressure isn’t only about money, it’s about reputation, rivalries, and law enforcement attention that never really goes away. Snow learns quickly that being the boss’s daughter doesn’t make her untouchable, it just puts a bigger target on her back.
Romance is part of the story, but it never stays separate from the danger. Snow’s bond with Zo, a single father with his own reason to hustle, offers warmth and a kind of teamwork she hasn’t had before. But trusting somebody in this environment is its own gamble, especially when family business, grief, and outside threats keep tightening the circle.
Across the two books, the tone mixes coming-of-age emotion with street-lit stakes in Chicago, Gary, and beyond. The story moves between the pull of home and the dream of a life that’s bigger than the block. It’s interested in what it costs to grow up fast, and what it means to choose yourself when everyone around you is trying to claim you. Expect big feelings, hard decisions, and a heroine who learns she can’t protect everyone, but she can decide who she’s going to be.
