2017

City is one of the Savage brothers, a street king who starts wanting a normal life. When he falls for Akira, her jealous ex and City’s crime-filled world turn their relationship into a fight for peace.

Series background & context

The Every Love Story Is Beautiful, But Ours Is Hood series is rooted in the Savage brothers’ world, where money, power, and survival are everyday concerns. They’re treated like kings on the street, but that status comes with constant pressure, constant watching, and enemies who would love to see them fall.

The first book focuses on City, one of the brothers, who starts questioning whether the life he’s in is the life he wants. He’s surrounded by schemes, crime, and stress, but he also sees the downside: people getting hurt, loyalty being tested, and the feeling that the streets will never let you clock out.

Then he meets Akira, and “normal” suddenly looks possible.

City’s relationship with Akira brings out a softer side, but it also puts her in the crosshairs. Someone as close as his brother Money worries City is letting love distract him, while other people see Akira as leverage. Akira has her own history too, including an ex, Shon, who refuses to accept that she’s moved on. His jealousy turns into a problem that can’t be ignored, and City learns quickly that a “regular” relationship is hard to protect when everybody feels entitled to a piece of your life.

As the series continues, the story stays anchored in the Savage brothers’ loyalty to each other and the tug-of-war between going legit and staying alive. The men want love, but they’re also used to control, and the women in their lives have to decide where their line is. It’s not just about who you date, it’s about what you’re willing to be connected to, and how much danger you can live with before it changes you.

A big part of the fun is the brother dynamic. The Savages argue, protect, and move like a unit, even when they don’t agree. Family love shows up as action: money on the table, doors being kicked in, and someone always ready to handle a problem.

Across the three books, expect an urban romance series with street stakes, protective heroes, and heroines who don’t come to play background. The tension comes from jealousy, betrayal, and the way old ties keep pulling people backward, even when they’re trying to move forward. If you like romance that’s intense but still focused on feelings, this series is built around the idea that love can exist in the middle of the mess, but you have to fight to keep it.
