Six Points of Light Books in Order

Six Points of Light is Bayron's darker take on Peter Pan, and the twist is right there from the start. Instead of treating Peter as the obvious hero and Hook as the obvious villain, the series begins by asking what the story looks like from James Cook's side. That change alone gives the books a very different mood.

Hook's Origin starts at St. Catherine's orphanage, the only home James has ever known. He is bright, kind, often sick, and used to watching the world from the edges. Then Peter arrives, wild and magnetic, and James's careful life starts to bend around him. What begins as a strange friendship turns into something more dangerous as Peter's secrets come into view and the path toward Neverland opens.

It is a sympathetic Hook story, but not a soft one.

Bayron keeps the fantasy pieces readers will recognize, but she grounds them in loneliness, abandonment, class, and the ache of wanting to belong somewhere. That makes Neverland feel different too. It is still a place of wonder, but it is not pure escape. In this version, it carries danger from the start, and childhood itself feels less innocent than the old tale usually allows.

The second book, The Lost Son, shifts to Finn Cook, who has been raised by his Aunt Wendy after his father's disappearance. When Wendy suddenly vanishes, Finn is pulled into a family mystery that reaches backward through stories he grew up hearing and forward into the life waiting for him in Neverland. James Hook becomes part of that search, which lets the series widen from one character's origin to a larger, multigenerational knot of secrets.

That shift gives the series its shape.

Across both books, the real through line is not sword fighting or adventure for its own sake. It is the question of legacy. Peter's myth, Wendy's stories, James's past, and Finn's future all keep colliding. Bayron is interested in who gets remembered as noble, who gets dismissed as dangerous, and how easily a beloved story can flatten people into roles they never chose.

Readers should expect more shadow than pixie dust. These books sit closer to dark fairy-tale retelling than to breezy adventure fantasy. There is magic, but there is also grief, betrayal, and the sense that growing up comes with losses no one can charm away. If Peter Pan has always felt a little stranger and sadder to you than some retellings admit, Six Points of Light leans into exactly that feeling.
