Bloem looks beautiful on the surface, all wealth, flowers, and possibility, but Craig quickly turns that beauty uneasy. Verity is pulled into romance, plagued by nightmares, and forced to question what is real as the house around her reveals its own ugly history.

What links the series is more than the family name. Craig uses the Thaumas sisters to explore how grief keeps echoing through a family, how old bargains refuse to stay in the past, and how young women try to claim their own lives inside houses crowded with secrets. Each book has its own plot and mood, but the shared world of Arcannia, the lingering supernatural fallout, and the complicated sister bonds give the series its backbone.

The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting here. Highmoor feels windswept, salt-stung, and watched. Bloem feels lush, overripe, and wrong in a completely different way.
