Sisters Grimm Books in Order

Sabrina and Daphne Grimm have spent years bouncing through foster homes after their parents disappear. Then they are sent to live with their grandmother, Relda Grimm, in Ferryport Landing, a small New York town with a big secret. Fairy-tale characters are real. They are called Everafters, and many of them live in town under the watch of the Grimm family.

Sabrina is older, wary, and not interested in being told that giants and magic mirrors are real. Daphne is younger, more open to the impossible, and delighted by nearly every bizarre discovery. Their different reactions give the series much of its spark. They argue, make mistakes, and keep moving when the adults around them cannot give them straight answers.

Each book starts with a mystery, whether it is a giant on the loose, a murder at school, or a crime tied to an old tale. The sisters investigate alongside Relda, their wolfish ally Mr. Canis, the irritating trickster Puck, and a shifting cast of familiar names from folklore. Snow White, Prince Charming, the Big Bad Wolf, and many others have complicated lives beyond the versions people know from storybooks.

But Ferryport Landing is not a safe fairy-tale retirement village.

The search for Sabrina and Daphne's parents runs through the series, as does a growing threat from the Scarlet Hand and its hidden leader. What begins as a funny detective adventure gradually becomes a larger story about family history, loyalty, prejudice between humans and Everafters, and the choices people make when they are scared. The stakes rise, but the books keep their playful energy.

The early books are especially good for readers who like mysteries with a fantasy twist. Later entries, including The Everafter War, The Inside Story, and The Council of Mirrors, work best in order because they build on long-running relationships and secrets. The accompanying The Sisters Grimm Ultimate Guide is a companion rather than a new case, with extra material about the characters and their world.

At its center, this is a story about two sisters finding a home and learning what their family name means. Sabrina may complain all the way through the adventure, but she and Daphne keep choosing to help people, even when the people in question have magic, claws, or a very questionable past.
