The Finniverse follows Finn Foley, an eleven-year-old whose life becomes much stranger when a unicorn lunchbox opens a wormhole. Finn has recently moved to Cold Spring with his mother and younger sister Kate after his father leaves, and school is already rough. A conflict with bully Lincoln Sidana puts the two boys in the path of the lunchbox, a robot called Highbeam, and an invasion that reaches far beyond Earth.

The threat comes from the Plague, a conquering alien force that resembles giant insects and has devastated worlds across the universe. Finn is pulled into the fight because alien technology attaches itself to him, making him part of a problem he never asked for. Lincoln and their sharp, stubborn friend Julep become essential partners, even when they would all rather be somewhere less dangerous.

The series uses a big science-fiction setup but keeps its focus on friendships, family, and the anxiety of not knowing where Finn's father is. Finn wants answers, and each adventure gives him a clue while making the situation more complicated.
