Series background & context

Sinners of Saint is the backbone of the LJverse, the series where many readers meet her first and where a lot of later books quietly begin. Set in the fictional, hyper wealthy town of Todos Santos, it follows a tight knit group of friends who call themselves the HotHoles as they move from cruel high school kings to deeply flawed, adult men trying to hold on to the love they almost ruined.

The prequel novella Defy sets the tone. Melody Greene, a frustrated teacher at All Saints High, ends up in a taboo relationship with her student, quarterback Jaime Followhill. Their story is short, messy, and full of bad decisions, hinting at how warped the power dynamics in this town can be and how easily people let money excuse everything.

Vicious is often the entry point and introduces Baron Spencer, nicknamed Vicious, whose wealth and rage make him the most feared of the group. As teenagers he tormented Emilia LeBlanc, the housekeeper’s daughter who lived on his family’s estate. Years later, when they cross paths in New York, he offers her a job that keeps her close and under his control, only to find the girl he once used as a punching bag has grown a spine and her own sense of worth.

Ruckus moves the focus to Dean Cole and Rosie LeBlanc. Dean drinks and parties hard, hiding a streak of self loathing under all the jokes, while Rosie is living with a serious illness that has shaped every choice she has ever made. Their romance is about second chances, unrequited crushes finally returned, and the cost of daring to build a future when time is not guaranteed.

In Scandalous, quiet, ruthless finance genius Trent Rexroth meets Edie Van Der Zee, his business partner’s rebellious teenage daughter. He is a single father with everything to lose, she is being blackmailed into spying on him, and their age gap relationship unfolds against boardroom battles and family betrayals.

Bane closes out the core quartet with Roman "Bane" Protsenko, the surfer delinquent who drifts through everyone else’s books as comic relief, and Jesse Carter, a traumatized girl who has every reason to avoid men like him. Their story threads together blackmail, shady business deals, trauma recovery, and a fierce, unexpectedly tender partnership.

Taken together, the Sinners of Saint novels are about more than rich boys behaving badly. They trace how childhood cruelty echoes into adult life, how loyalty can be both a strength and a trap, and how people raised with every advantage can still be painfully broken. The books are steamy, often brutal, and unapologetically dramatic.

They also seed the wider universe. Children, siblings, and side characters from here later headline All Saints High and Boston Belles. If you like interconnected stories, morally gray leads, and a small town where almost everyone has a secret, starting with Sinners of Saint makes the rest of LJ Shen’s world click into place.
