At the center is Cynthia Sin Beller. As a child, she lost her parents to the Kurev crime family. Instead of moving on, she rebuilt herself around revenge. By the time Vengeance starts, Sin has targets, routines, weapons, and a long plan aimed straight at the people who destroyed her life. Then Lee Maxwell crashes into that plan with a vendetta of his own and a habit of making bad situations even more combustible.

Their partnership is the engine of the trilogy. Sin is disciplined, cold, and patient. Lee is reckless, angry, and harder to predict.
