The Sharma and Jackson books shift Cameron's crime fiction into Norfolk and give him room to tell stories that feel part police procedural, part chase thriller. The first book, Eyes on You, starts with Norwich businessman Sean Morgan in Paris, where an attempted abduction leaves him stranded without his phone, money, or passport. From there the story becomes a race across northern France and eastern England, while the investigators back home try to work out who wants him and why.

The detectives are Yami Sharma and Steve Jackson. Their role in the series is not to stand above the story and explain it from a safe distance. Instead, they have to catch up with fast-moving events, test what frightened witnesses say, and decide which version of the truth makes sense. That gives the books a slightly different feel from the DI Angus Henderson novels. The police work is still there, but the cases are built around uncertainty, pursuit, and people who may be running for their lives.

Nothing is quite as simple as it first looks.

That approach carries the series. Missing people, respectable professionals, and stories that do not add up sit at the center of these books. In Eyes on You, the threat reaches beyond one man to his wife and child in Norwich. The tension comes from trying to sort fear, lies, and half-truths before the damage spreads, and from the sense that the public version of events is never the whole story.

Norfolk matters here. These are not generic crime novels that could happen anywhere. Norwich and the surrounding area give the series its social texture, from business circles and legal offices to family homes and the quieter corners where someone can vanish or hide. Even when the action pushes outward, the emotional center stays in the east of England, with local detectives trying to protect people whose lives are suddenly under pressure.

The tone is brisk and uneasy. Cameron likes to put ordinary people into situations that go bad fast, then let the police uncover the layers one by one. Sharma and Jackson operate in that space between the obvious explanation and the nagging detail that will not sit right. They are dealing with criminals, certainly, but also with panic, reputation, and the way a clean public story can cover something much darker.

If you want a Cameron series that feels newer, a little looser in structure, and very interested in who can be trusted, this is a good place to start. The Sharma and Jackson books bring together flight, pursuit, missing-person tension, and solid detective work, with Norfolk providing the grounding that keeps the stakes real.
