Serenity Books in Order

Serenity is one of Marissa Farrar's earlier paranormal series, and it has the dark vampire-romance shape that still shows up in her work now. The story begins with Serenity Hathaway, a woman trapped in an abusive marriage, and Sebastian, an old vampire who recognizes her fear almost before he knows her name. From there the books build into something much larger than a rescue fantasy.

Los Angeles matters here. The city gives the series its mix of glamour, danger, and grim corners, and it works well with a story that keeps moving between private terror and supernatural threat. The early books pull together romance, serial-killer pressure, and the unsettling fact that safety for Serenity is never simple, even after she escapes one monster.

It gets bigger fast.

As Alone, Buried, Captured, Dominion, and Endless go on, the stakes become family-sized. Children, old enemies, bargains with darker forces, and the long consequences of love all push the series beyond first attraction. If you like vampire romance that keeps one foot in horror and does not rush past the damage its characters carry, Serenity is a strong place to start with Farrar's paranormal side.
