Dragon Enchanted shifts to Raven MacInnes and Prince Vector. Raven does not believe in magic or soulmates, which is a problem when she saves a wounded dragon prince on a Scottish cliff and learns that secret societies and supernatural laws are very real. Dragon Cursed follows Poppy Brightwood and Alsander in an Irish forest poisoned by an ancient curse.

These books carry a darker fantasy feel than Goodwin's reality-show Atlan stories. The danger comes from curses, executioners, secret societies, and rules meant to keep humans from learning too much. The romance is still immediate and intense, but trust is harder here. A mate bond may be certain to a dragon, but the human woman still has to decide whether the hidden world is worth the cost.
