Series background & context
The SEAL Brotherhood series is the center of Sharon Hamilton's romantic-suspense world. It begins with Navy SEAL Team 3 and follows the men around them as missions, missing teammates, criminal threats, and complicated family ties collide with new love.
Accidental SEAL introduces the tone. A chance meeting pulls Kyle Lansdowne and Christy Nelson into a situation involving an absent teammate and a dangerous San Diego gang. From there, the books give different members of the wider Team 3 circle their own romances, while familiar friends keep returning.
These are not quiet military dramas. The stories mix protective heroes, capable women, close-knit teammates, and external danger, often involving crime, abduction, corruption, or the fallout from a deployment. The romance stays central, but the stakes usually reach beyond the couple.
The Brotherhood is the real constant.
San Diego is important in the early books, while Sonoma County and northern California become meaningful parts of the larger setting as the characters' work and personal lives grow. Hamilton also lets earlier couples reappear, so the series has the comfort of an ongoing community as well as a new relationship in each installment.
Readers can begin with Accidental SEAL, even though SEAL Encounter is a short prequel. The main novels work as individual love stories, but reading in order makes the friendships, callbacks, and later family connections more satisfying. Expect military romance with a strong protective streak, plenty of found-family loyalty, and happily-ever-after endings after the danger is faced.
