Sea Shenanigans Books in Order

Sea Shenanigans takes Peterman's comedy to the water, and it wastes no time telling you this is not a solemn mermaid saga. The series is set around Mystical Isle, a hidden island in the Bermuda Triangle where mermaids run a tourist trap for humans and try, with mixed success, to keep both the business and the island itself from falling apart.

The first big problem is survival. Sea Hags are after the island, old grudges refuse to stay buried, and backup has a habit of arriving in the least convenient form possible. Pirate Doug is a perfect example. He is charming, exasperating, and exactly the kind of help that creates almost as much trouble as it solves.

From there, the books widen out through different characters and romances. Tallulah and Ariel help establish the tone, but later stories bring in more mermaids, pirates, selkies, werewolves, gods, gnomes, and whatever else Peterman can toss into the surf. The island stays central even when the focus shifts, which gives the series a cozy sense of place beneath all the chaos.

That setting matters because it lets Peterman play with a beachy, vacation-gone-wrong mood. This is a brighter, splashier branch of her paranormal comedy. There are threats, sure, but there is also a lot of flirtation, family bickering, and the kind of magical nonsense that feels right at home near a cursed island resort in the middle of nowhere.

If you are looking for deep ocean myth told with a straight face, this is probably not the series. If you want mermaids with attitude, supernatural romance, and an island full of creatures who keep trying to save the day while making an even bigger mess, Sea Shenanigans absolutely delivers. It is breezy, weird, and very aware that the sea can be both beautiful and completely ridiculous.
