Scottish Hearts is a compact Highland-leaning historical romance series that keeps its focus tight on strong personalities, family duty, and the kind of arguments that are only a step away from kissing. With just a couple of books, it does not build a giant clan saga. Instead, it gives you two connected stories that make good use of Scottish settings and old-fashioned complications.

In His Rebellious Lass, a marquess suddenly finds himself responsible for a fiery Scottish ward who has plans of her own and no interest in being married off for convenience. In A Scot to Wed, a laird and a determined woman end up fighting over land, authority, and who has the right to decide the future. Both books lean into the pleasure of two people who are absolutely certain they know best, right up until emotion starts making a mess of that certainty.

What makes the series work is the push and pull between independence and obligation. The heroines do not want to be handled. The heroes may start out trying to impose order, but Hutton is not especially interested in letting them get away with it.
