Series background & context

Saints of Denver is the direct spin-off from Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series. It stays in Denver and keeps the same sense of found family, but it shifts the focus to characters who were nearby, adjacent, or waiting for their own story. You will see familiar faces, but the new couples get room to stand on their own.

Everyone needs a hero, but Crownover’s heroes are rarely shiny.

The series begins with the novella Leveled, a male-male romance about physical therapist Orlando Frederick, known as Lando, and injured police officer Dominic Voss. It bridges the Marked Men world and the spin-off by focusing on healing, grief, and the fear of risking your heart after a serious loss.

Built launches the full-length novels with Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller. She is a controlled family lawyer with careful walls, and he is a tattooed builder with a prison record and a life-changing legal problem. Their romance mixes opposites-attract heat with a custody fight that makes the emotional stakes feel practical and immediate.

Charged pairs Avett Walker, a pink-haired troublemaker in serious legal trouble, with Quaid Jackson, the polished criminal attorney trying to save her from the consequences of one bad choice. Riveted follows sunny Dixie Carmichael and guarded former soldier Dash Churchill, taking the story from Denver to Mississippi family secrets. Salvaged closes the main arc with Hudson Wheeler and Poppy Cruz, two wounded people trying to believe they are worth repairing.

The series is warmer than the Point books and more grown-up than the earliest Marked Men novels. Jobs, family, trauma, recovery, and legal trouble all matter here. So does community.

You can start with Leveled or Built, but readers who begin with Rule and the rest of Marked Men will catch more of the emotional history behind the Denver crew.
