Series background & context
Rydeville Elite drops readers into one of Siobhan Davis's darkest and most dramatic worlds, a corrupt social order where wealthy families, old alliances, and raw power decide almost everything. The series starts with Abigail Hearst-Manning, usually called Abby, a young woman raised inside that system and painfully aware that her future has already been mapped out for her.
Abby has been groomed to play along, accept an arranged destiny, and keep her head down. Publicly, she does exactly that. Privately, she is furious, frightened, and planning any kind of escape she can imagine. That tension snaps the moment the new elite arrive. Camden, Sawyer, and Jackson challenge the old balance of power, and the halls of Rydeville High turn into a battlefield.
The first three books are Abby's war.
Cruel Intentions, Twisted Betrayal, and Sweet Retribution build a brutal enemies-to-lovers story around control, humiliation, shifting loyalty, and the question of who is really pulling the strings. Abby is surrounded by dangerous boys, but the series works because she is not passive. She adapts, fights back, and keeps trying to outthink people who assume she is just another piece on the board.
After that core arc, the world gets broader. Later books move into interconnected standalones and companion stories focused on other people from the Rydeville orbit, including Charlie, Jackson, Sawyer, the missing Anderson brothers, and Drew. That shift means the series stops being only one heroine's story and becomes a bigger portrait of the damage this elite system does to everyone trapped inside it.
The tone is dark, heated, and very twisty. Bullying, power plays, family manipulation, revenge, and buried history all matter here. The romance is important, but so is the larger question of what happens when entire generations are raised to see control as normal. That gives the series a nastier edge than a lot of school-set romance.
If you want high school and college dark romance with serious emotional teeth, Rydeville Elite is an easy recommendation. It starts as a fight over one girl's freedom and turns into a whole connected saga about power, loyalty, and the long aftershocks of secrets that should never have stayed buried.
