Series background & context
Ruthless Reign is the later-edition title for Logan Fox's completed Cora Swan cartel saga, the same dark five-book storyline some readers first met as Their Cartel Princess. If you are trying to choose between the old names and the new ones, the big thing to know is that the core story is the same. The retitled books simply present it under a newer series banner.
The story starts with Brutal Captor. Cora is a cartel daughter who learns very quickly how little protection her status really gives her. Her longtime protector is killed, she is taken, and she ends up caught between men who want to save her, use her, own her, or all three. That first book introduces the emotional pattern that drives the rest of the series.
From there, the saga expands through A Savage Fraud, A Cruel Tyrant, A Wicked Hunter, and A Broken King. The cast around Cora gets larger and more dangerous, especially as Fox leans into the why-choose structure. Finn, Lars, Bailey, and Kane are not interchangeable love interests. Each one changes the balance of safety, violence, and desire around her.
Cora is the reason it works.
She begins the series young, sheltered, and constantly acted upon. What keeps the books moving is that she cannot stay in that role forever. As the cartel politics deepen, Cora has to understand the system well enough to survive inside it, and eventually to push back against it. That gives the series a long growth arc underneath all the heat and bloodshed.
If you like Fox at her most sprawling, this is a strong pick. Ruthless Reign has safe houses, betrayals, shifting alliances, and the sense that every apparent rescue just opens the door to a worse kind of danger. This page is the easiest way to track the newer titles in order. If you have heard of Their Cartel Princess before, you are in the right place. If not, just start with Brutal Captor and let the chaos build from there.
