Believing Lenore is draining her homeland's magic, Rosia joins an expedition across the border with orders to kill the Eternal Prince. Her journey challenges what she has been taught about Lenore, Melanthos, and the cause of her country's decline.

Read the books in publication order for the fullest picture, especially before Guardian of Ruses, which draws on earlier characters and conflicts. The overall tone is adventurous and lightly playful, with real stakes, complicated loyalties, and a setting where magic is never just decoration.
