Author bio
Rob Sinclair is a British thriller writer whose books move between espionage, crime, and psychological suspense, usually at a pretty fierce pace. He is originally from the North East of England, and over the years he has built a bibliography that ranges from long-running spy series to darker domestic thrillers. More than a million copies of his books have been sold.
Before writing fiction, he studied biochemistry at the University of Nottingham and then spent thirteen years at a global accounting firm, specializing in forensic fraud investigations. That background matters. You can feel it in his books, in the interest in deception, hidden motives, missing money, institutional rot, and people who are never telling the full story.
Then a promise to his wife changed everything.
In 2009, Sinclair told his wife, who was and is an avid thriller reader, that he could write a real page-turner himself. He sat down to prove it. What started as a challenge turned into a new career, and a few years later Dance with the Enemy introduced readers to Carl Logan, the intelligence agent at the center of his first major series. Sinclair has said he did not grow up planning to be a novelist, and that late start gives his work a practical, straight-ahead feel.
From there, the books kept expanding outward. The Red Cobra and the wider James Ryker novels take the Carl Logan story into bigger, more globe-spanning territory. Sleeper 13 follows Aydin Torkal, a man shaped into a weapon as a child and trying to take his life back. The Essence of Evil shifts into crime fiction with DI Dani Stephens, while Dead Reckoning introduces the battered, dangerous Simon Peake. Readers tend to come to Sinclair for pace, clean setups, and central characters who keep moving even when everything around them is falling apart.
He also writes standalones such as Dark Fragments, Rogue Hero, and Blind Pursuit. Those books let him move away from recurring heroes while keeping the same blunt forward drive, whether the story is a conspiracy thriller, a family mystery, or a chase across Europe.
He likes broken people under pressure.
That runs through almost all of his fiction. His leads are often ex-agents, detectives, drifters, or survivors carrying old damage, and the plots tend to throw them into manhunts, cover-ups, family secrets, or moral gray zones where the official explanation never quite holds. Even when the stakes are large, the engine is usually personal, a missing person, an old betrayal, a debt, a wound that has not healed.
Sinclair's path as a writer has also been a steady, practical one. He self-published his first three novels, later worked with traditional publishers, and kept building series and standalones without losing momentum. He has lived and worked in a number of cities, including New York, and that restless movement shows up in the fiction too. His books rarely stay in one place for long.
These days he is based near Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, sons, and dog. The former fraud investigator now writes full time, still chasing the same goal that got him started in the first place, a thriller that keeps you reading far later than you meant to.
