River Haven is Perry's later Amish romantic suspense series, and it combines some of her favorite elements: a Pennsylvania setting, people returning under strain, and danger that arrives through family history as much as criminal action.

In Amish Outsider, a widower returns with his young daughter after his estranged wife's murder and the suspicion that followed it. Later books keep that same pressure. Characters need jobs, shelter, or a fresh start, but the places they turn for safety are already knotted up with old feelings and new threats. A schoolteacher notices a child's pain. A housekeeper in an isolated mansion suspects sabotage. Love grows in the middle of fear, not after it.

The series works because Perry keeps the suspense local and intimate. This is not grand conspiracy territory. It is a town, a river, a community, and a set of relationships that can either protect or expose someone. The Amish setting adds another layer, since reputation and belonging matter so much.
