Series background & context

The Riggins Brothers series brings together two of Kaylee Ryan's favorite things, a deeply connected family and heroes who fall completely, sometimes faster than expected. These books have more money and polish than some of her blue-collar series, but the emotional center is still family, loyalty, and the feeling that love changes the whole shape of a life.

The main series starts with Layer by Layer, then moves through Piece by Piece, Kiss by Kiss, Touch by Touch, and Beat by Beat, with each book focusing on a different brother. There is also a prequel novella, Play by Play, and a later capstone, Breath by Breath, that looks back at the parents who started the family legacy.

The brothers are not all the same, which helps the series feel fresh. One book might lean workplace or grumpy-sunshine, another might go harder on class difference, forced proximity, or second chances. What stays consistent is the sense that the family is always nearby, always involved, and always part of the emotional backdrop.

That is especially true in Breath by Breath, which makes the series feel bigger than a string of standalones. By returning to Lena and Stanley, Ryan turns the family into something that has a beginning, not just a collection of siblings finding love.

If you like interconnected romances with big feelings, strong family ties, and a slightly glossy but still warm tone, the Riggins books are a good fit. Start with Layer by Layer, and save Breath by Breath for after the brothers' stories land.
