Series background & context

Ridgewater High is Judy Corry’s signature small-town YA romance series, set in the fictional town of Ridgewater, New York. The books follow overlapping friend groups through first crushes, late-night confessions and the kind of big feelings that hit especially hard when you’re still figuring out who you are.

Most readers start with Meet Me There, where a dark chemistry lab, a fake British accent and a long-running rivalry collide. Ashlyn thinks she’s pouring her heart out to a charming exchange student, not realizing it’s actually football captain Luke using an accent as a distraction from his grief after losing his mom. That mix of swoony setups and real-world pain runs through the entire series.

From there, Don’t Forget Me turns a practice kiss between lifelong neighbors Eliana and Jess into a turning point that risks their friendship at the worst possible moment. She’s still reeling from her dad’s disappearance, he has a reputation for cycling through girlfriends, and suddenly the one person she thought she could always lean on might be the one who can hurt her most.

It Was Always You leans into the beloved brother’s-best-friend trope, pairing shy Lexi with Noah, the boy she’s secretly crushed on for years. Their fake relationship is supposed to help her save face after a humiliating moment at school, but it also exposes Noah’s secret homelessness and forces them both to navigate overprotective parents, complicated friendships and blurred lines between pretend and real.

In My Second Chance, a semester abroad in Paris ends with Juliette returning home pregnant and terrified to tell anyone that the baby’s father is her best friend’s brother. The story doesn’t shy away from the weight of teen pregnancy, but it keeps the focus on communication, consent and whether two people can rebuild trust when almost everything went wrong the first time.

Holiday novella My Mistletoe Mix-Up and later novel Forever Yours keep the Carmichael siblings in the spotlight with Christmas kiss mix-ups, reformed bad boys, old crushes and bets that could cost characters their closest friendships. Throughout the series, cameos and shared scenes let you watch couples grow up together, changing the way you see familiar faces from book to book.

All Ridgewater High books are closed-door romances; they handle heavier topics like grief, missing parents and teen pregnancy with care, balancing them with humor, banter and plenty of heart-pounding kisses. Each novel can be read on its own, but following publication order lets you feel the full sweep of the town—Friday-night games, piano recitals, snow-day mishaps and all—as different characters finally get their chance at a happy ending.
