Return of the Rogues Books in Order

Return of the Rogues is a compact Regency romance series about men who have spent years away from the lives they were born into, then find that coming home is harder than leaving. The two books are linked by travel, old family wounds, and characters who have learned to rely on themselves before love asks them to take a risk.

The series begins with The Return of the Disappearing Duke. Rafael Edgerton has lived under another name for years, keeping his identity as the Duke of Greybourne at a distance. In Egypt, he meets Cleopatra Osbourne, a resourceful young woman searching for her missing brother after their father’s death leaves them exposed to danger. Rafe’s choice is not just whether to help Cleo, but whether he can return to England and face the title, family, and memories he has avoided.

The second book, A Match for the Rebellious Earl, brings the action back to London society. Captain Kit Carrington, now Lord Westford, has a reputation that keeps polite society talking. He would rather return to the sea than accept the duties waiting for him, but Miss Genevieve Maitland has plans for the women in his household and needs his help. Genny is organized, determined, and used to putting everyone else first, which makes Kit a particularly inconvenient person to meet again.

Both romances work with a similar question: what does a person do when their past, their family, and their public role seem to demand one thing, while their heart wants another? Rafe and Kit are capable men, but neither has made peace with the place he is meant to occupy. Cleo and Genny are not waiting to be rescued. They have their own goals, their own people to protect, and very little patience for being managed.

The tone mixes emotional history with adventure and brisk Regency social pressure. Egypt, ships, family estates, London gatherings, and gossip all have a part to play. There is danger in the first book and a more domestic tangle of duty and matchmaking in the second, but both keep the focus on two people learning to trust each other.

Read the books in order if you can. The Return of the Disappearing Duke introduces connections and events that give Kit’s story extra weight, while A Match for the Rebellious Earl offers a satisfying move from travel and uncertainty toward a home that feels chosen rather than imposed.
