Resisting Love Books in Order

Resisting Love is one of Chantal Fernando's earliest connected romance series, and you can see a lot of her later habits taking shape here. The books are contemporary, very relationship-driven, and built around a linked cast who keep circling in and out of one another's stories.

It starts with a great hook. In Chase, Layla moves into a house with three men she barely knows and almost immediately gets tangled up with the most dangerous option of the lot. That shared-house setup gives the whole series its backbone. Everyone is close. Everyone sees too much. Privacy is limited, opinions are not, and attraction has nowhere to hide.

That is half the fun.

The rest of the series, including Kade, Ryder, and James, branches out through friends, roommates, musicians, best friends, siblings, and exes. Each book follows a different couple, but they all feel like part of the same emotional neighborhood. These are stories where one person's heartbreak becomes the thing everybody knows about by dinner.

Compared with Fernando's later MC work, the stakes here are more personal than dangerous. The drama comes from commitment fears, promises, jealousy, secrets, timing, and the trouble that follows when you fall for someone already tied into your social circle. That makes the series feel very new adult, even when the emotions run hot.

There is also a strong friend-group texture running through the books. The couples matter, of course, but so does the sense that these people are part of each other's lives whether they like it or not. Roommates become family. Best friends become in-laws. Side characters keep turning up and making trouble.

If you like early-career romance series with lots of connection between books, possessive but devoted heroes, and heroines who are trying to keep control while everything gets messier around them, Resisting Love is worth a look. It is one of the places where Fernando first started building the kinds of interconnected worlds she would return to again and again.
