Series background & context

Renegade Angels is a dark, sensual paranormal romance trilogy that takes the Dominion universe introduced in the Marked books and explodes it into an all out war among angels, lycans, and vampires. The stakes are cosmic, but the stories stay rooted in individual relationships and the impossible choices they demand.

The prequel novella A Dark Kiss of Rapture introduces the tone. Raze, a fallen angel turned immortal seducer, stalks the night hunting rogues while feeding his own hungers for blood and sex. His encounter with a woman who sees through his detachment hints at the emotional depth to come. From there, A Touch of Crimson launches the main arc with Adrian Mitchell, a powerful angel charged with policing his own kind and punishing those who fall. He is ruthless, controlled, and secretly obsessed with a mortal woman who carries the soul of his lost love.

In A Touch of Crimson, Adrian crosses paths with Lindsay, a human with a hunter’s instinct and a connection to him that neither fully understands. Their relationship plays out against an escalating conflict between the Sentinels under his command, the lycan packs they have long oppressed, and the vampire nation ruled by Syre. Forbidden love and questions of justice twist together as Adrian has to decide whether maintaining heaven’s order is worth the cost.

A Caress of Wings, a connected novella, shifts the spotlight to Sentinel Siobhán and the mortal man she rescues from a vampire den. It explores what happens when an ageless enforcer falls for someone fragile and human, and what she is willing to sacrifice for him. Then A Hunger So Wild dives into the lycans’ point of view through their leader Elijah, whose fiery relationship with the vampire Vashti forms the second pillar of the trilogy.

Planned but long delayed, A Taste of Seduction focuses on Syre himself and a mortal virologist forced into his orbit to help cure a vampiric plague. Even in its previewed form, the story continues the series’ pattern of pairing seemingly implacable figures with partners who challenge their every assumption, both about the war and about themselves.

The Renegade Angels books are heavy on world building: secret councils, ancient grudges, viral threats, and battles in skies and city streets. Yet Day never lets the lore drown the intimacy. Sex scenes are intense and tied closely to power dynamics, consent, and the characters’ need for connection in a brutal world. Themes of rebellion, atonement, and the cost of blind loyalty echo through every installment.

Readers who enjoyed the Marked series will recognize the Dominion framework here, but Renegade Angels stands on its own as a saga about breaking systems that no longer deserve to stand. It is ideal for anyone who wants paranormal romance with genuine moral complexity, not just pretty wings and fangs.
