Series background & context

Redeemable Rogues is Tanya Anne Crosby's playful historical-romance sequence about women who refuse to settle for the futures other people have chosen for them, and the flawed men who prove worth another look. The books range through late Victorian society, travel, holiday trouble, and romantic complications.

The first stories set the tone. In Happily Ever After, Boston heiress Sophia Vanderwahl discovers her fiancé has been unfaithful and hires his old rival, Jack MacAuley, to take her toward the Yucatán. What starts as a mission of revenge turns into an adventure with a great deal more at stake. Sophie's Heart is the sweet version of that tale.

Other installments bring in scheming relatives, unsuitable matches, bold proposals, and people who are not quite as respectable as society expects. Mischief & Mistletoe adds a holiday setting. A Perfectly Scandalous Proposal follows an heiress determined to keep control of her own fortune, even when an inheritance rule demands a husband. Kissed by a Rogue, The Art of Kissing Beneath the Mistletoe, and One Knight's Stand continue the thread of romantic troublemakers finding unexpected partners.

The rogues are redeemable, not perfect. They may be adventurers, rivals, men with secrets, or people trying to live down a reputation. The women are usually clear-eyed about what they want, whether that is freedom, justice, security, or simply the right to choose.

Expect banter, travel, social pressure, and a light adventure-romance feel. The books are linked by tone and recurring connections more than by one continuing mystery, so many can be read on their own.

For the clearest introduction, start with Happily Ever After. It establishes the series' mix of humor, romantic friction, and a heroine who decides to take charge of the plot.
