Series background & context
At the center of the Real series is the collision between Brooke Dumas and Remington Tate. Brooke is a former athlete whose own competitive future was cut short, and when she takes a job as a sports rehab specialist, she steps into the loud, bruising world of the Underground. Remy is its brightest star, a fighter with huge charisma, fierce control one minute, and dangerous volatility the next. From the start, these books mix physical intensity with the feeling that both characters are trying to outrun pain.
Remy is the pulse of the series.
The first arc runs through Real, Mine, and Remy. Those books are about desire, trust, and what it means to love someone who is both magnetic and hard to read. Brooke is practical and stubborn enough to meet Remy head-on, which is a big part of why their dynamic works. She is not just dazzled by him. She has to figure out where professional duty ends, where love begins, and how much of herself she can risk in a world built around winning, travel, money, and spectacle. Remy then circles back and lets readers see the same love story through his eyes.
After that, the series opens outward. Rogue follows Brooke’s best friend Melanie and the mysterious Greyson King, turning the focus toward secrecy and the feeling that one rescue can change a life. Ripped brings in Pandora and her rocker ex, Mackenna Jones, with more second-chance heat and the same close-up emotional style. Later books keep widening the circle. Legend centers on Maverick Cage and Reese Dumas, while Racer moves to the next generation with Racer Tate and Lana, shifting from the fight scene to the racing world without losing the family connection.
These books like speed.
What ties the whole series together is the sense that love is never separate from ambition. Fighters want titles. Friends and family get pulled into the glare that comes with fame. Old wounds do not stay buried for long. The settings matter because Evans keeps the pressure high, hotel rooms, arenas, training spaces, backstage chaos, media attention, all of it feeding the tension. If you want the fullest experience, start with Real and move forward. Even when later books focus on new couples, they hit harder when you already know the people and loyalties around Remy and Brooke.
