Author bio

Randy Alcorn writes the kind of books that keep one eye on everyday life and the other on eternity. He moves easily between detailed Bible teaching and fast paced stories, always circling back to what lasts forever.

He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and spent many years as a pastor near Portland, Oregon. Week after week he walked with people through joy, grief, sin and repentance, and those conversations still echo through his pages.

In time he sensed a pull to focus more fully on issues of eternity, justice and compassion. That led him to start Eternal Perspective Ministries, a small team that pairs Bible teaching with practical help for the poor, the persecuted and the unborn.

Alcorn has written more than fifty books, along with many articles and small booklets. His work ranges from thick theology volumes to short devotionals you can read over coffee, but the same themes of hope and accountability keep showing up.

In nonfiction, titles like Heaven, Money, Possessions and Eternity, If God Is Good and Happiness dig into big questions with plain language. He loves to open a Bible, clear away fog and show how doctrine connects to daily decisions about money, suffering and joy.

His novels work the same ground from a different angle. Deadline, Dominion and Deception follow reporters and a weary detective as they chase down murders on the streets of Portland while unseen realities press in from the other side. Safely Home and Lord Foulgrin's Letters look at persecution, spiritual warfare and heaven through story, pulling readers into worlds that feel close to their own.

Whether he is writing about a hard news story, a persecuted house church or a teenager facing temptation, Alcorn keeps circling back to one simple idea, what God says and how each choice will look in light of forever. He cares about clear answers, but he also leaves room for honest struggle.

Outside his books he has spent years speaking, mentoring younger leaders and teaching in classroom settings. He has also funneled much of his writing income into missions, relief work and pro life outreach, letting the royalties flow through his ministry instead of stopping with him.

At home in Oregon, he and his wife have raised two daughters and welcomed grandchildren, and family life often slips into his stories. The fathers, mothers and kids on the page feel like people you might actually know.

For readers who want both thoughtful Bible study and engaging story, his work offers an on ramp. The tone is simple and direct, the focus is Christ, and the horizon is always the coming New Earth he loves to describe.
