Author bio
Raine Miller was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Southern California, where reading at the beach or by the pool was just part of life. She has said one of her earliest jolts as a romance reader came at thirteen, when she picked up a Barbara Cartland novel and found the genre that would stick with her.
Romance got to her early.
Long before publishing, Miller spent about twenty years teaching young children to read, work she still talks about with real affection. Writing came into her life in a less planned way. During a medical leave after surgery, she found herself home for months, reading, restless, and then trying her hand at writing. Once she started, she did not stop, even after returning to the classroom.
A small nudge from home helped too. Miller has said her mother gave her a subscription to Writer's Digest, and that kind of encouragement mattered. What began as an experiment gradually turned into a real second career, one built book by book and day by day.
That mix of discipline and daydreaming shows up all over her fiction. Readers who start with Naked, All In, and Eyes Wide Open get the clearest introduction to her style, because those Blackstone books blend high heat, romantic suspense, and a glossy London setting. She likes strong chemistry, emotionally guarded heroes, and women who have to decide who they can trust.
She never stayed in one lane for long. Priceless and My Lord shift toward country estates, old paintings, and British aristocrats. Filthy Rich moves the Blackstone name into Boston family drama. Then there is Crushed and the wider Vegas Crush run, where hockey, workplace trouble, and fast banter take over. The through line is easy to spot. Miller likes intense connection, messy emotional baggage, and a hero who falls hard.
She likes building links between books, too.
Art threads through much of her work. So does history. Even her contemporary stories often carry echoes from older love stories, family lines, or paintings that matter again generations later. That is part of why historical titles like The Muse, The Passion of Darius, and The Undoing of a Libertine sit so naturally beside her modern romances.
Success came fast with The Blackstone Affair, and Miller has been a bestseller since 2012. She later left teaching to write full time, something she has described with a mix of gratitude and disbelief. She has also said she writes every single day, which makes sense when you look at how connected her series feel and how steadily her worlds keep expanding.
These days she lives in California with her husband, two sons, and two Italian greyhounds. When she is not writing, she has said she likes reading, gardening, crafts, and cheering on hockey, especially the Vegas Golden Knights. It is a pretty good match for a writer who can move from London galleries to Northern Irish estates to a Las Vegas rink and make each place feel lived in.
