Series background & context
The Protector series, also known as the Aphrodite novels, mixes superhero-flavored fantasy with romantic comedy. It kicks off with Aphrodite’s Kiss, where assistant librarian Zoe Smith discovers she’s not quite human and not quite ready for the responsibilities that come with that.
Zoe is a Halfling, and her powers come with tests, rules, and higher stakes than her normal life can handle. The mythology is playful, and the books are as interested in awkward moments and banter as they are in saving the day.
