Series background & context
Pros & Cons is A.E. Wasp's romantic suspense series about a group of men who are very good at the wrong things and slowly try to use those skills for something better. At the center is a dead man's final scheme. Charlie Bingham leaves behind a set of jobs, and the promise that each completed mission could help erase one man's past. The setup is pulpy in the best way, but the books care just as much about bruised hearts as broken laws.
Each novel shifts the spotlight to a different member of the crew. That means bodyguards, hackers, jewel thieves, grifters, and one federal agent who really should know better than to get tangled up with the rest of them. The romantic pairings change from book to book, but the larger cast stays close, so one of the big pleasures of the series is watching the team turn into a strange, bickering, fiercely loyal found family.
Nobody here is pretending to be a saint.
The jobs are what give the series its engine. One mission goes after a vicious senator. Another circles human trafficking. Another forces old love and old guilt back into the open. By the time Pros and Cons of Obsession and Pros and Cons of Christmas roll around, the danger outside and the emotional mess inside are tightly knotted together. These books are interested in justice, but not the tidy, lawful kind. Most of these men live in gray areas, and that is exactly what makes them useful when the people they are hunting are worse than they are.
Even with the crime plot running underneath, the tone never stays bleak for long. Wasp likes banter, longing, and the exact moment when attraction stops being the problem and trust takes its place. Forgiveness is hard in this world. So is honesty. Most of these characters have spent years lying, hiding, stealing, or surviving by instinct. Falling in love means giving up some of that armor, and that is where the series does its best work.
Read these books in order if you can. The romances land one by one, but Charlie's shadow, Leo's role, and the team's shifting loyalties build over time. If you want fast-moving plots, sharp dialogue, found family, and love stories wrapped inside cons, cover identities, and vigilante justice, this is one of Wasp's most entertaining worlds.
