There the series keeps its taste for secrecy, but adds shipboard chaos, class tension, and a more openly stormy love story.

Sinclair leans more openly into mystery here than in many of her Highland books. If you are coming to this series after the McTiernay books, expect a lighter social setting but not a smaller one. The emotional stakes are still high, and the stories still move. Read them in order for the strongest sense of the friendships, the carryover threads, and the world Sinclair is building around these women. The result is a set of romances that blend wit, risk, and loyalty with just enough intrigue to keep the satin sleeves from feeling too tidy.
