Prometheus Saga Books in Order

This page is a little different from a normal Doug Dandridge series page, because Prometheus Saga is not one continuous solo storyline. It is a shared anthology concept built around one strong idea. An advanced alien civilization left a probe on Earth at the dawn of humanity. That probe can take human form, move through history under many identities, and observe what people become.

The observer is the thread.

Because of that setup, the series does not work like a conventional novel sequence. Each story can land in a different period, with a different cast, and still belong to the same whole. The point is not one hero's life. It is the human record itself, seen through a watcher that studies us from the outside and occasionally gets close enough to matter. Some stories lean toward history, some toward speculation, and some toward the moral puzzle of what an outsider would make of our best and worst behavior.

Doug Dandridge's contribution here is Marathon, which takes the premise back to 490 BC and the Battle of Marathon. That tells you a lot about how this page should be read. Dandridge is not using the line to build another space opera. He is stepping into a historical flashpoint and adding the Prometheus lens to it. The story puts ancient war, political consequence, and a mysterious observer into the same frame, which suits him well because he already likes military pressure and turning points.

This is anthology science fiction, not series continuity science fiction.

That distinction is what matters most. If you come here expecting a long sequence of Dandridge books with recurring leads and escalating plot, that is not really what Prometheus Saga offers. What it offers instead is a broader thought experiment. How would one hidden intelligence read human history over centuries or millennia? Which moments would matter enough to watch closely? And what does it say about us when the witness is not one of us?

So this page is best used as a guide to Dandridge's place inside that larger project. Expect short fiction, historical reach, and a shared conceptual frame rather than a tight in-order saga. The pleasure here is variety under one idea, and Marathon gives you Dandridge's version of that idea at a moment when a battle may shape far more than the men fighting it know.
