Ashira now knows Jas is far more layered than the man she first judged, but truth does not make their relationship easier. Pride, class, and old wounds keep turning every step forward into a fight.
Mercy
by Love Belvin
2022
Ashira is wealthy, polished, and used to getting her way. Jas is a spiritually grounded parolee working construction, and the deeper she gets into his orbit, the more she realizes she knows almost nothing about him.
The Promise

Three years later, Ashira and Jas are no longer dealing with only attraction and secrets. Pain, resentment, co-parenting, and unfinished love force them to confront what they still owe each other.
Series background & context
Prism opens with distance. Ashira is wealthy, beautiful, and deeply connected to her father's booming building firm. She moves through the world with money, polish, and the confidence of someone used to getting attention. Jas appears to stand on the other side of that world, a construction laborer, a convicted felon on parole, and a man whose spiritual discipline makes him even harder to read.
He looks simple from the outside. He is not.
That is the series in a sentence. Prism keeps turning both characters so the light hits them differently. Ashira has privilege, but not peace. Jas has a hard past, but also purpose, restraint, and a life far more layered than she first understands. Their connection is loaded with class difference, suspicion, attraction, and the ugly assumptions people make about each other when appearances are doing most of the talking.
The home-building world matters here, not just as a setting but as a metaphor. So much of the series is about foundations, facades, who gets to build, and what has to be torn down before anything honest can stand. Family expectations, business pressure, old sins, hidden identities, and public image all crowd the relationship.
Across Mercy, Grace, and The Promise, the story keeps widening. What starts as a collision becomes a much bigger test of patience, accountability, and whether love can survive once resentment, revelation, and parenthood enter the room.
This is one of Belvin's most disruptive series. It is intense, sensual, and often uneasy on purpose. If you like romance that keeps exposing new angles of the same two people, Prism lives up to its name.
