Series background & context

The Prince of the Other Worlds books follow one couple from first dangerous meeting to full dragon-sized commitment. The series starts in Dragon Called, when Andi Ngo, a night nurse who badly needs money, takes a one-off job for Damian Blackwood and learns that he is not just a rich man with a bad attitude and expensive taste. He is tied to an older, stranger world, and part of him is literally dragon.

Andi is what keeps the series grounded. She is practical, funny, stubborn, and not at all eager to become somebody's treasured possession, which is unfortunate because Damian and his dragon are very interested in exactly that. Their chemistry drives the books, but so does the mismatch between her ordinary human life and his world of magic, assassins, bodyguards, ancient grudges, and hidden realms.

Saying yes to him changes everything.

Across Dragon Destined, Dragon Fated, and Dragon Mated, the story keeps widening. What begins as a tense paranormal date story turns into a full relationship arc shaped by dangerous magic, family secrets, and the question of what it means for a human woman to love someone who is older, stronger, and built for a different world. The books stay with Andi and Damian, so each installment feels like another stage of one long romance instead of a reset.

The setting shifts between familiar modern life and a supernatural world running just beside it. Hospitals, apartments, coffee shops, and family obligations sit next to castles, dragon politics, and otherworld rules. That blend gives the series its tone. It is hot and escapist, but it also stays anchored in work, siblings, bills, and the very human habit of making a mess even when fate seems to have a plan.

If you like possessive dragon heroes, fated-mate energy, and a heroine who does not melt just because the love interest breathes fire, this series is an easy recommendation. It is steamy, emotional, and high stakes without losing its sense of fun. The bonus prequel Dragons Don't Date adds more of the world, but the core of the series is simple: Damian and Andi, one bond, and four books' worth of reasons it should never work.

That is really the draw. The series knows its central fantasy, but it also gives both characters room to push back against it. Andi does not stop being herself when the world gets stranger. Damian does not stop being dangerous when he falls in love. The books are about what happens when those two facts have to coexist.
