Series background & context
Pleasant Hearts follows four orphaned sisters, Stella, Erica, April, and Summer Heart, as they try to build adult lives while carrying old hurt, messy communication, and the repeated message that marriage and settled happiness may simply not be for them. That family setup gives the whole series its backbone.
Each sister gets her own story, but the books work best when read as one family journey. In Uncommon Ground, the stakes begin with Stella and her daughter in the middle of disaster. In Unbound Hope, Erica's past and present crash together. Unveiled Truth gives April a story shaped by accusation, flight, and unfinished history. Unshaken Love brings Summer into a romance where secrets and danger refuse to stay out of the way.
The sister bond matters as much as the romance.
These are Christian suspense novels, so there is plenty of danger, lost people, hostile pursuers, and tense confrontations. But the emotional engine is the Heart family itself. The women do not always understand each other well, and they do not glide through pain. They argue, misread things, carry private burdens, and still keep finding their way back toward one another.
If you like contemporary Christian fiction with sister dynamics, romantic tension, and a real sense that faith has to be lived in the middle of fear, Pleasant Hearts is a strong place to start. It has action, but it never forgets the family at the center.
