Series background & context
Perfectly Matched is Christine Bell's contemporary romance series about professional matchmakers who can identify chemistry for everyone except, perhaps, themselves. The books are connected by the matchmaking business Love Will Find a Way and by heroines who know plenty about other people's romantic mistakes.
Dirty Trick introduces Grace Love, whose instincts have helped make the business successful. Grace can spot a promising match quickly, but her own feelings are a different matter. The man who keeps catching her attention is her longtime friend Trick Matthews, a SWAT officer with a playboy reputation and a plan to make Grace see him differently.
Their problem is not lack of attraction. It is the fear that acting on it could destroy a friendship that already matters.
Dirty Deal follows Grace's business partner, Serena Elliott. Serena wants military doctor Bryan Metcalf to represent their growing company, while Bryan wants a solution to the unwanted attention of an ex. A business proposal becomes a fake-girlfriend arrangement, putting two commitment-wary people in close contact.
The series is playful, sexy, and built around romantic-comedy complications. Both books enjoy the irony of matchmakers who give excellent advice but struggle to take it. The central couples have to drop their carefully managed strategies and admit what they actually want.
The business setting connects the novels, and characters from the first book appear in the second. Begin with Dirty Trick to meet Grace, Trick, and the matchmaking team, then continue to Dirty Deal for Serena and Bryan's story.
