Author bio
Parker S Huntington is a romance author from Orange County, California, and a lot of her work carries that polished, high-pressure Southern California energy, even when the stories head elsewhere. She earned a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of California, Riverside, and later studied literature and creative writing at Harvard. She has also described herself, pretty simply, as a dog mom who keeps a fairly low profile online.
Writing seems to have found her before she fully planned on becoming a novelist.
In a 2017 interview, Huntington said the turning point came during her freshman year of college. A teaching assistant pulled her aside after a creative nonfiction class and told her she should seriously consider writing. At the time, she was on track to become a doctor, not a novelist. She took more writing classes anyway, changed direction, and ended up majoring in creative writing. That mix of instinct and commitment fits her books well. Her characters often make risky emotional choices, then have to live with them.
Her debut novel, Asher Black, arrived in 2017 and launched The Five Syndicates, an interconnected mafia romance series. Books like Niccolaio Andretti, Bastiano Romano, and Damiano De Luca stay in that world of criminal families, expensive suits, and people falling in love while a power struggle is happening nearby. The hooks are easy to spot, fake engagements, hunted heirs, undercover lies, second chances. But what keeps readers around is the balance between danger and personality. Her heroines tend to push back. Her heroes tend to think they are in control right up until they very much are not.
She likes pressure cookers, on the page and in the heart.
That same instinct shows up in Devious Lies, a dark contemporary romance set in the Cruel Crown world. It trades mafia politics for class resentment, family damage, revenge, and a boss and employee relationship that is anything but simple. Then there is Darling Venom, which shows a different side of her work. That novel begins with two teenagers meeting on a rooftop at the worst moment of their lives and grows into a story about grief, survival, and the complicated shape love can take after loss. Readers who connect with Huntington usually talk about the emotional intensity first. Even in darker setups, she leaves room for humor, stubbornness, and real vulnerability.
She also writes well in collaboration.
With L.J. Shen, she co-created the Dark Prince Road books, including My Dark Romeo, My Dark Desire, and My Dark Prince. Those novels lean into twisted fairy-tale echoes, old-money families, and wealthy, wounded heroes who are far less composed than they look. Across her solo work and collaborations, a few patterns keep showing up: revenge, class tension, possessive love interests, sharp-tongued women, and characters trying to outrun family history that never stays buried for long.
Huntington has said she self-published because she liked having control over every part of the process, and that independent streak still feels central to her career. Early on, she even designed her own covers. That makes sense. Her books are built with a strong sense of mood, from the names and tropes to the glossy, dangerous atmosphere around the romances.
These days, she still seems to keep most of the spotlight on the books instead of herself. What is clear is that she remains based in Southern California, loves her dogs, and writes romances full of bite, ache, and very big feelings. If you want dark romance with sharp edges and a lot of emotional messiness, that is the lane she has made her own.
