Series background & context

Oak Harbor is a smaller series than Beachwood Bay or Sweetbriar Cove, but that tighter focus works in its favor. These books stay on the North Carolina coast and keep the emotional stakes high, with romance built around old heartbreak, hometown history, and the hard work of trusting somebody after life has already taken a swing at you.

The setup is simple. Oak Harbor is a small coastal town where the past is never very far away. People leave, people come back, and the old stories everyone thought were finished suddenly aren't. That gives the first book, Heartbreaker, most of its charge. Eva is trying to move on from the boy who once broke her heart. The problem is that boy is now Finn McKay, a famous rock star, and he's back in town wanting more than a nostalgic reunion.

That first romance gives the series a slightly bigger, louder note because fame keeps brushing up against small-town life. But even with the music-world angle, the story stays grounded in hometown feeling. Finn and Eva aren't just exes with chemistry. They're two people carrying years of unfinished business, missed chances, and the awkward fact that everybody around them remembers what happened the first time.

Then Reckless Hearts shifts the attention to Delilah and Will, and the series gets a little more intimate. This book is less about public history and more about private defenses. Delilah doesn't believe in lasting love, and Will arrives determined enough, and patient enough, to make that belief wobble. Their story keeps the heat and momentum of the first book, but it also shows that Oak Harbor works just as well when the stakes are personal instead of public.

Small town, big feelings.

Because there are only a couple of main books here, Oak Harbor feels a little different from Melody Grace's longer worlds. There is less sprawl and more direct emotional payoff. The books can be read on their own, but together they create a strong picture of the town: salty air, local businesses, close friendships, and just enough overlap between characters to make the place feel lived in.

If you like second-chance romance, coastal settings, and stories where people have to get honest before they can get happy, this series is an easy pick. Oak Harbor has the heat you'd expect from Melody Grace, but it also has a nice sense of scale. The town is small enough for feelings to stay close to the surface, and that makes every reunion, argument, and risky first step matter a little more.
