My Purpose Books in Order

My Purpose is a smaller, looser connected series, but it still carries a lot of Jenny Wood's favorite themes, rescue, belonging, and the moment a person realizes they do not have to survive everything on their own. These books feel a little broader than her tight small-town series. The settings shift, the mood changes, and each story works well on its own.

Saving Tanner begins in crisis. Tanner loses the protected life he thought he had and ends up trying to survive on the streets, held together mostly by music and stubbornness. Nolan, a successful lawyer, steps into that mess with the kind of steady care Tanner does not know how to accept yet. The story leans into sharp contrasts, privilege and homelessness, panic and safety, fear and patience.

Keeping Gavin moves in a softer, more seasonal direction. Gavin, who grew up without the family he wanted, gets snowed in with Walker Coleman, Walker's relatives, and the kind of holiday chaos that is equal parts awkward and comforting. It still has emotional bruises underneath, but the setup gives the book a warmer rhythm, with a farm setting, a cowboy hero, and a whole house full of people who refuse to stay in the background.

The common thread is purpose in the everyday sense, not some grand destiny. These are stories about men who have lost their footing and are trying to figure out what comes next. Work matters. Family, whether it is blood or chosen, matters more. So does the question of where home really is.

That is what gives this short series its shape.

Even with different settings, both books circle back to the same emotional promise. Wood writes men who are lonely, ashamed, displaced, or tired of pretending they are fine, then gives them someone patient enough to see the truth.
